The discussion was: We all know that Honolulu changes constantly, but without historic photos to look back at, it's difficult to know what's changed, and how. Comparing old scenes to current ones makes the differences very obvious, but how and why things have evolved is sometimes surprising and not what you'd expect.

The takeaway was: Things that we take for granted and rarely notice often have important backstories that are enlightening when you become familiar with them. Pairs of 'then & now' photographs make historic changes very clear and informative.
